I need all the advice I can get people! I know little to nothing about actually putting double ended dreads in. I am also mixed, so my hair is pretty thick and curly. Any advice on my situation? Anyone order from Jaded Dreads? Her double end dreads look nice. Thank in advanced!

Re: first timer attempting double dreads in mixed hair
Tue, August 19, 2008 - 2:56 PMthe way I put mine in (I have thick curly hair too) when I actually weaved them in was to take a hunk of hair and split it in 2.. put the dread between the 2 pieces of hair and you can start in the middle of the dread or not so you can have varying lengths ... then I weave the hair over (crisscross) and under (criscross again) the dread... now you can make it so you can see the dread between the crisscrosses so it looks like you have a stripped dread or you can weave it tight to the roots of the hair so you dont see your own hair as much...
does this make sense? -

Re: first timer attempting double dreads in mixed hair
Wed, August 20, 2008 - 3:51 PMThats kinda what I do. I do most in the middle or close to the middle of the dread. I Split the piece of hair and lay the dread in the middle. When I do this on my own, I hold the loose end of the dread in my mouth to keep the tension right. Then, I use the other end (that is the loose end) as the 3rd piece of hair and just start braiding. So I have 1 dread piece and 2 hair pieces, then just braid until I get to the bottom of my real hair and secure it with a tiny black rubber band.
After you get the first couple of cross overs done, you can take the other end out of your mouth, you dont need to hold it tight anymore. Holding it tight lets you start the braid nice and close to your head.
